Thanks to the yellow house captain ‘Vyshak’ for the School Day notice. As always me planned to be there with ma two buddies! Savin had some appointments and Aashan (Jerin) was there with his Pulsar to get me to school. Thanks brother. Siblings need no blood relation and we had proved it many time. “ are u brothers, cousine…..”
Well into my good old small (literally big) school after a long five year. As usual the volunteers found their places near the front gate. They proved they belong to our race, some pointing left and some right! We did the same once when we stood of their boot. No buddies we know where to go, we know this place more than u do. ( I say this with a bit of pride). Thanks for the little help.
New buildings have found its spot. I had a hand wash in our toilet, guys there are some additional pipes now. We moved towards our +2 block. My heart might have stopped pumping for some seconds. Guys our classes are no more. It is titled LKG. After five years a +2 class can turn into kinder garden. Humourous but wasn’t that easy to digest. Hmm the little kids of Trinity Lyceum had some song preparations, donno the lyrics but the tune was familiar enough to take me to them.
We continued. Jerin quite famous. He knew many and the people knew him as well. How can he be not famous? From grade 5 to 12 he was there on stage not even missing once. When he is finished the battle is set only for the 2nd and 3rd spot! There is enough reason for his fame. Dude you are the best performer I ever know. He after his casual chat joined me. We met Joji (pedali) on our way. Guys he is lecturer in IHRD karunagappally. Ho that was a big blow , anyway congrats dude.
The programs are still flowing on stage. No doubt they had enough practise at back stages. The dance was a fusion type and the best was about to come. The three in the front turned out to be Micheal Jackson. Ho god they started with some waves and they where floating with the moon walks! I guess the school curiculum includes dance as well. Now barathanatyam and such classical dances found places on our stages. Thanks to the little girls out there. It was Miss Usha we saw first. Back to my 4th grade, she was my class teacher. Its like terror struck when she enters the classroom, she uses cane a lot that too a big one. What else she can do with we guys? She said she knew all 3 of us. I never scrutinized that comment. I saw her after some 14 years but she had a great memory. She started talking about jerins sister and Joji seems very familiar. She might’ve my pitchure as well in her memory.
It was sir Wilfred whom we saw near the gate. You all chatti mottais stand up sit down, stand up sit down…and the laugh at the end flashed at the corner of ma eye. He is the same with some extra grey hairs. He greeted us well, he patted our shoulders and had a small chat. It was Miss Mercy our next destination. She was there at the side of our 9th std A classroom. “hey you abhilash” that’s the first warning, the next’ll follow soon “you, the last but one get up, what are talking there, well you stand there” my opportunity to sit down comes only with some dialogs of Julius Caesar “who said those line, what is it about, where is the play taking place…..” the questions goes on but my answer to all this is ma smile. My face would point to my neigbours for some help or will be having some lines of for them from JC “you too brutus” I think I’ve learned to smile from there. Thanks you mam. She never noticed me at first, hope she’ll in my next visit
Each places got different memories. As soon as I passed 9th std classroom the big figure of Sir Banel Das was in ma mind, “are you bluffing me? Why are you late? Get out!” ho terrible. The next was 10th std room. Sir John (the Dean) took Jerin out for whistling inside the classroom. Howling inside the class????? Hey how sweet was his treatment Jerin? Next was the +1 classroom. Sir Joseph firing me for the poor performance in mathematics (Sir I managed to become an engineer at last) . Jerin took some snap of the class, I think some nostalgia had struck him as well!
We took some place at the back. Augustine (malpan) gave us a great company. He is the same. The usual blah blah stuff. Vyshak had reniewed his account with everyone he know, I think he added new once as well. Well he is a federal bank official by now. Micheal was in search of some chicks, hope he found some one. I’d incremented my friends list by one with this visit, my junior Nisha. She is amazing, a non stop chatter Box.
When the National Anthem is on all should be on foot where ever you are and I found all still, that is what our schools discipline is all about. Its time for us to leave and when I leave I miss all my teachers and my dear friends. Did I forgot to say something? “ I miss my school a lot”
Do the best in present and the future’ll give memories as present.
